Coming to the AAOA and the Bull Thistle: “Dear Sam”
Dear Reader,
I’m Sam Lyons, and I work for the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging. At 40 years old, I feel as if I am simultaneously old and young. I love movies, thrifting, crafts, cats, romance, and falling asleep at 8:30 p.m. I’m one of the latest Outreach Workers recruited to the team, but in my 1.5 years in my position, I have already met thousands of the members of our community, making many friends along the way.
At the office, I deal with issues around Medicare, government programs, aide services, and other resources for our community members.
Outside of the AAOA, I’m a wife, mother, daughter, Sagittarius, my blood type is A-positive… I’m a person, just like you.
Somewhat out of the blue, I was asked if I was interested in writing a sort of advice column for our newsletter. I wondered if someone had gotten hold of my diary and seen that writing for an advice column was a cherished wish I had, once upon a time.
Now that you know a little about me, I want to ask you to help us add more color and community to the Bull Thistle.
