Martin House, Inc.

Martin House, Inc. Providing dignified housing and wrap around supports for those battling Substance use disorder and/or a person experiencing mental health challenges.

Martin House serves individuals who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, the majority of who have histories of mental illness, are of low income, and are unemployed or under-employed. Over 90% of our residents have histories of mental illnesses. Many have a dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse, developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities. Before coming to Martin H

ouse, many residents had been repeatedly admitted to Connecticut’s mental health institutions, and at intervals lived on the streets, in abandoned buildings, in tents in the woods, in cars or some other substandard living condition.

🍽️ Big News β€” and Even Bigger Gratitude!

We are overjoyed to announce that we have been awarded a generous grant from the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation β€” and the impact it will have on our residents means everything to us. πŸ’›

This incredible gift will transform our kitchen and dining area in ways that go far beyond a renovation. It means 15 new cafΓ© tables and 60 new chairs where our residents can gather, share meals, and feel at home. It means freshly stripped, cleaned, and waxed dining room floors that shine as brightly as the community that walks them every day. And it means a brand new flat top grill in our kitchen, making it easier than ever for our team to prepare the warm, nourishing meals our residents deserve.

But more than the tables, the chairs, or the floors β€” this grant means dignity. It means our residents can sit down to a meal in a space that honors who they are and the community they belong to.

When we told our residents about these upcoming upgrades, the excitement in the room was impossible to contain. Their joy is our joy β€” and it's a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much.

To the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation β€” thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity doesn't just renovate a room; it transforms lives. We are so grateful for your continued belief in our mission and the people we serve. πŸ™
