25 years has passed since a beautiful, clear September morning changed our nation forever.

Norwalk felt that tragedy deeply. Fourteen members of our community lost their lives in the attacks in New York City—family members, friends, neighbors and loved ones whose absence is still felt today.

From Norwalk Harbor, the smoke rising from Lower Manhattan could be seen across the water; a heartbreaking image against an otherwise clear blue sky.

In the days that followed, members of the Norwalk Fire Department answered the call. Our firefighters joined the heroic rescue, search and recovery efforts at Ground Zero, working amid the rubble and devastation to help others during one of our nation’s darkest moments.

As we approach this solemn 25th anniversary, we remember the lives taken too soon, honor the families who continue to carry their loss and express our lasting gratitude to the first responders who served with extraordinary courage and selflessness.

September 11 reminds us never to take our country, our democracy or our freedoms for granted. One meaningful way to exercise those freedoms is to participate in our elections.

Register to vote. Make your voice heard. Take part in the democracy that unites us as Americans.

Remember Their Lives. Cherish Your Freedom. Vote and Register.

🇺🇸 We will never forget.

🗳️ Recently, our department was awarded the US Alliance & Election Excellence Grant to promote Voter Registration, Education & Community Engagement!

Connecticut’s Registrars of Voters are responsible for registering eligible voters, maintaining accurate voter records, administering elections, and providing the public with clear, reliable information about when, where, and how to vote.

**Our role also includes helping residents understand registration requirements, election deadlines, polling locations, early voting, accessibility options, and their rights and responsibilities as voters. Voter education and outreach from our department ensures every eligible resident has the information and opportunity needed to participate.

That is why we believe it is important for the Norwalk Registrars of Voters to be visible and active throughout our community and why we will be at this year’s Norwalk Oyster Festival on both Friday and Saturday!

Stop by to participate in:
🗳️ Mock voting for the kids
Vote for your favorite Disney character or YouTuber!
📚 Election education for Norwalk’s youth is vital
📍 Information for voters about Norwalk polling locations and Early Voting Dates
🇺🇸 Voter registration and more
Strong communities are built when people are informed, engaged, and empowered to make their voices heard.

Thank you to the Norwalk Seaport Association for including our department in this wonderful community event. The Norwalk Seaport Association has always allowed a space for our department but this is the first time in decades, Room 103 is participating as a prescience. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Oyster Festival!

🇺🇸 Your vote matters. Bring the kids by and learn the importance of civic duty. Norwalk wants to show up in big ways to promote registration and voter participation in our community. We are so grateful for this grant to help us do just that!

The Norwalk Registrar of Voters Office attended the 2026 ROVAC Conference in Bristol!

The Registrars of Voters Association of Connecticut plays an essential role in supporting election officials throughout our state. Continuing education helps registrars, deputies, assistants, and staff remain knowledgeable, prepared, and confident in administering fair, accurate, secure, and accessible elections.

During the conference, registrars are earning continuing education credits while receiving important updates on the latest election laws, procedures, technology, security practices, and statewide requirements. These opportunities also allow election professionals from across Connecticut to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from one another.

Election administration is constantly evolving, and ongoing education is an important part of serving our voters responsibly and maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.

Thank you to ROVAC, the instructors, presenters, and everyone helping to make this valuable conference possible!
