Time of Incident: 4:01 p.m.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a commercial building fire at 251 Ely Avenue this afternoon at 4:01 p.m. Engine 2, Engine 5, Engine 3, Truck 2, Truck 1, Rescue 2, Command and Safety Staff responded.

The initial report was for an outside fire extending to a building. On arrival, Engine 2 reported burning debris in the rear of the building extending to the structure and being driven by windy conditions.

Shortly thereafter a working fire was declared by Incident Command. The fire was contained within approximately 35 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment. Fire damage was mostly limited to the exterior of the building with smoke damage to the interior.

Norwalk EMS was on scene standing by for firefighter rehabilitation and Norwalk Police Department provided
crowd and traffic control. There were no displaced occupants and no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division.

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on Interstate 95
southbound between exits 14 and 13 late Friday night, May 8, 2026, at approximately 11:29 p.m.

Initial dispatch reports indicated the crash involved a motorcycle and SUV, with possible entrapment.
Upon arrival, rescue personnel located a motorcycle and its operator pinned beneath an SUV.

Firefighters utilized rapid-deploy lifting equipment and shoring techniques to stabilize and raise the vehicle, allowing crews to extricate the trapped motorcyclist.

Fire department personnel transferred primary patient care to Norwalk Hospital EMS and continued assisting with treatment while en route to Norwalk Hospital.

The rescue operation was carried out by Norwalk Fire Department Rescue 2, Engine 2, Tac 1, command staff personnel, and the Darien Fire Department. The condition of the patient has not been released at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a house fire on Fullmar Lane this morning at 11:56 AM with a first alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Rescue Company, Command Staff, and Safety personnel.

The initial report indicated a fire on the rear deck. Truck 1 and Engine 1 arrived on scene and encountered a well-involved structure fire with flames present on the first and second floors and rapidly extending to multiple attic spaces of the split-level house.

Shortly thereafter, the remaining assignment arrived, and Command upgraded the incident to a second alarm assignment, followed by a third alarm, bringing all remaining City of Norwalk Fire Department resources to the scene. The fire was extinguished and brought under control in approximately one hour.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. Sadly, one dog was found by firefighters deceased within the fire area. Three occupants were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division.

During the fire, the City of Norwalk fire stations were covered by mutual aid from the Rowayton, New Canaan, Westport, and Stamford Fire Departments.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported lawn mower on fire up against a garage on Sherwood St. at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Firefighters arrived to find a riding lawnmower fully engulfed in
flames next to a detached single-car garage. The fire had extended to the garageโ€™s exterior and was extending into the soffits and up to the peak. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, preventing it from spreading into the interior.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department was dispatched to reported smoke in the basement at a residence on Stonybrook Rd. on Monday night.

The first arriving Engine reported smoke inside the house followed by a transmission of a working fire. Firefighters encountered a fire in the basement, which was quickly contained and extinguished, preventing it from extending to the 1st floor and beyond.

While the fire was being extinguished, firefighters simultaneously conducted a primary search, ventilated the building, and secured the power to the residence. The incident was handled by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 26 firefighters.

The occupant credited a working smoke detector for alerting her to the smoke and fire in the basement.

Currently, one occupant is displaced.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department along with the Westport Fire Department responded to a tractor trailer fire Thursday. March 26 at 7:28 pm.

The fire was on I95 South between exits 17 and 16. Firefighters arrived to a fully loaded tractor trailer with the tractor portion fully involved. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, preventing extension to the trailer portion.

There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
