Today we said goodbye to a friend. Several of us attended the memorial service for Volunteer Dan Levine at the Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles. It was great to meet his mother and two brothers. The service was beautiful and a very nice send off for Dan. Dan, you may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten.

Volunteers, it's with deep despair and a heavy heart that I advise you of the passing of VOP Dan Levine. I received a call from VOP Team Leader Bruce Dixon that Dan suffered a sever heart attack while en route to Sgt. Steve Owens funeral in Lancaster. He was rushed to the hospital but they were unable to save him.

I hired Dan several ago and has been a stable part of the volunteer program since then. He really committed himself to doing as much within the program as he could. He donated hundreds of hours to the program and was so proud to part of this great group.

Dan, if there is a volunteer program in heaven, I'm sure you are already patrolling the streets. You were a good friend to all of us and you will be missed. God Bless.

Today we finally completed the VOP Academy! After a three week delay, we got it together and made it happen. Bruce Dixon came up with a great idea for running the different scenarios, and it worked perfectly. We did have an issue with the microphone during the graduation, but we got it done. Great job team!

VOP Academy Class #20 has graduated! I can't thank all of you enough for all the help and hard work you did to make this a great class. A special thanks to Bruce Dixon for all your time and energy. Without Bruce, this couldn't have happened!
