The Huron County Engineer's Office is composed of a small group of hard working employees, who probably are your neighbors and friends, that have a stake in the welfare of the county they live in. They do a mixture of administrative, engineering, maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, roadway and bridge construction to make Huron County's transportation system safe, reliable and designed to han

dle the latest equipment that is ever increasing in size in our county's largest industry, Agriculture. The Huron County Engineer's office is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 223 miles of road, 401 bridges and with an annual budget of 4.8 million dollars. Our mission at the Huron County Engineer's Office is to keep the county transportation system of roads and bridges at the highest level of maintenance and operation.

Please be advised, asphalt road repairs on New State Road between the Village of North Fairfield and Hasbrock Road, will start Tuesday June 2, 2026. This work will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers or portable lights during construction. Please avoid the area during working hours if possible.

Today on our Chenango Road bridge replacement project, bridge beams were set into place. Each of the four concrete beams are 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall, 132 feet long, and weigh 154,000 pounds.
The beams were set into place by two cranes, one rated at 900 tons and the other rated at 550 tons.
