At this month’s Board of Education meeting, we proudly recognized individuals, programs, and observances that reflect the values, achievements, and diversity of our NLMUSD community.

🏆 La Mirada Junior All-Stars for winning the 2026 Junior League Baseball World Series Championship and representing our community with excellence, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

🤝 Community School Specialist Appreciation Week, honoring the dedicated professionals who help connect students and families with the resources they need to thrive.

Today, Southeast Academy student cadets welcomed community members, veterans, public safety personnel, local leaders, students, and families to the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at John Glenn High School Football Stadium.

Together honored the lives lost, remembered the heroes who answered the call, and reflected on the values of service, unity, resilience, and patriotism that continue to inspire us. 🇺🇸

☀️ Did You Know? The new solar panels across 12 campuses are helping offset the equivalent of taking nearly 555 cars off the road each year?

The clean energy project is expected to offset approximately 2,380 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, supporting NLMUSD’s commitment to sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and creating more sustainable learning environments for students and staff.

As Superintendent Tania Magaña shared, “This project is a win for our students, our schools, and our community. By expanding our use of clean solar energy, we are helping reduce emissions and contribute to cleaner air for the families we serve.”

Special thanks to the NLMUSD Facilities Team and our partners, Luminace and Rosendin, for helping bring this project to life.

🦅 Escalona Eagles and their families rocked Karaoke Night! 🎤

Families enjoyed karaoke, rock painting, and great food from local food trucks. The painted rocks created during the event can now be found throughout the school campus, showcasing our Eagles’ creativity and school spirit. 🪨✨

A huge thank you to the Escalona PTA for helping host this amazing event and bringing our school community together for a fun-filled evening!

And a special thank you to Frostbite Ice Cream and Taco Bite Al Carbon for joining us and serving up delicious food and treats! 🍦🌮
