A volunteer committee of NPS school counselors were hard at work this June, helping to write the district’s Developmental Guidance Curriculum in Workforce Development for Grade 2.

This work will be implemented through monthly classroom lessons co-taught by our school counselors and the classroom teachers in Grades K-2 across the district and focus on the following state standard for Workforce Development: Identifying personal values, personality, abilities and work interests in relation to career options and the world of work.

Scholars will explore and identify their likes and dislikes, their hobbies and favorite leisure activities. They will learn the reasons that people choose a particular job or career, and they will define personality and how it influences a person’s career choices.

Thank you to our Workforce Development School Counselor June 2024 Committee Members:

Ayesha McFadden-Harris from Fox Run Elementary School
Fabiola Estevez-Artiles from the Kendall College and Career Academy
Grace D’Onofrio from Future Ready Programs
Lilliana Murillo from the Center for Global Studies
Poliana Coelho from PTECH-Norwalk

With more extreme heat predicted for tomorrow, Sept. 6, Norwalk Public Schools will be releasing students from FIVE schools early due to limited air conditioning in their buildings.

Only the following schools will have a two-hour early dismissal on Wednesday, Sept. 6:

- Naramake Elementary School
- Rowayton Elementary School
- Tracey Magnet School
- West Rocks Middle School
- Wolfpit Integrated Arts School

We encourage all families to continue having their children dress in light, loose-fitting clothing and to bring a water bottle to school to stay hydrated throughout the day.

NPS also continues to monitor weather conditions and to follow the guidelines set by the CT Department of Public Health. We will notify our families of any changes if conditions become worse.

☘️ Thank you to our PTA for inviting the Mulkerin School of Irish Dance to come and perform for the whole school today! Our students loved clapping along (and learning a few steps themselves)! Have a great weekend, everyone!
