Yesterday, the people of Norton placed their trust in me to serve as your next Commissioner of the Revenue, and I am deeply grateful. Thank you to every voter who made your voice heard, to those who knocked doors, shared posts, offered advice, requested signs, and kept us going with encouragement and prayer. Your belief in our city and in this campaign means more than I can say. Voting is our greatest right, and I am so grateful for all those who chose to come out yesterday and who early voted, regardless of the vote that was cast. I encourage those who were not able to vote to consider voting in next year’s election.
To my family and friends, thank you for your steady support and encouragement since I began this campaign. Especially to my family, thank you for understanding the time that was put into this campaign and allowing me the space to explore something I was passionate about. To the incredible volunteers, community partners, leaders, and fellow business owners, your time and talent powered this effort from day one. A big shoutout to all of my family and friends who stood beside me on Election Day, providing encouragement and steadfast support. And to the dedicated poll workers and election officials, thank you for safeguarding our democracy.
I also want to extend my respect to my opponent. Campaigns require sacrifice and love for community. Melanie, thank you for choosing to operate a clean campaign. I appreciate that we were able to talk at times, wave, and smile at each other throughout this process. Norton is stronger when good people step forward to serve, and I appreciate your contribution to this process.
Last but not least, Judy Miller, I don’t know how I can ever thank you enough. Probably eight years ago or so, I remember you telling me that you thought I should consider running for this position when you retired. Those simple conversations created a spark in me, and I began learning more about the office from you and other Commissioner friends across the region. Your encouragement throughout this journey helped strengthen me, and your passion for Norton and its citizens made mine grow even stronger. Thank you for sacrificing your time from your family and loved ones as you stood beside me, and thank you to your family for being understanding and for their words of encouragement as well. I look forward to working with you as we begin this transition over the next few months. You have spent your life dedicated to this office and to the people of Norton, and I am honored to have your support.
