***1:15 PM MT Update: The High Wind Warning has been cancelled for Yuma, Kit Carson, and Cheyenne counties in CO as winds continue to decrease.***
Winds this morning and through the afternoon will be gusting back up to 60-70 MPH, with some isolated 80 MPH gusts possible. These strong winds and dry conditions will lead to rapid wildfire spread and blowing dust. Travel and fires are not advised today!

** * UPDATE 1030pm Wednesday: High Wind Warning for Thursday now goes into effect at MIDNIGHT (instead of 6 AM)...to account for possibility of brief 50-60 MPH gust potential overnight/early Thurs AM

A High Wind Warning remains in effect for our entire area on Thursday:
HOWEVER, the warning now starts at Midnight/12 AM to account for the first of TWO SEPARATE periods of very strong winds:

1) Mainly between 12-4 AM, a brief/initial surge of north-northwesterly gusts as high as 50-60 MPH will race south across our forecast area (these high winds won't last very long at any given location).

2) The "main event" for high winds is still expected DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS on Thursday...as we are expecting several hours of sustained northwest winds as high as 35-45 MPH...gusts as high as 55-65 MPH.

Use extreme caution when traveling the roadways this morning! We had freezing drizzle most of the night. Use caution on your sidewalks and driveways as well!
