Local beekeeper Patricia Backer covers the basics: what equipment you need, how a hive works, where bees come from, and what to expect during your first season. This program is part of the Summit County Farm Bureau’s “Food for Thought” series in celebration of America 250.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all Akron‑Summit County Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, January 19.

We encourage our community to take time to reflect, learn, and engage in the spirit of Dr. King's legacy.

We’ll reopen with normal hours on Tuesday.

From Independence Hall to Yosemite Park to Alaska's 23 parks, learn how he experienced America's cultural, historical, and natural jewels, during his "One Year... One Quest" adventure. 👢
