The Water Division is handing out Red Tags for water meters that are older and needing replacement in most cases this is due to the fact technology has changed and we are upgrading. At this time we are inundated with calls. If you receive a tag please call once and leave a message. Your message will be heard and you will be placed on a call back list. As we update our stock you will be contacted and an appointment will be scheduled.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience,
Sincerely,
Justin Chicca

The Town of Norton would like to inform residents that cyclical property inspections are currently being conducted as part of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue’s certification requirements. These inspections help ensure that property records remain accurate and up to date.

As a reminder, Massachusetts Department of Revenue guidance states that local assessors may request access for inspection purposes, but do not have legal authority to enter private property without the property owner’s consent.

The Town has contracted with PK Valuation Group to assist with this process. Benjamin Kettleson will be conducting inspections on behalf of the Town and will carry identification. He is driving a gray Toyota. The Norton Police Department has been notified of his presence in town.

If you have any questions or would like to verify an inspection, please contact the Assessing Department at (508) 285-0270.

🚨 Community Update

Earlier this afternoon, Norton and many surrounding communities received reports of a loud boom accompanied by shaking that was felt in some areas.

At this time, there are no known public safety concerns or emergency incidents in Norton associated with these reports.

News outlets have reported that the cause may have been a meteor or other atmospheric event off the Massachusetts coast, but officials have not yet confirmed a cause.

We will share additional information if it becomes available.

For more information, see the Boston Herald article:

A mysterious boom heard across Massachusetts and New England has people wondering what it could have been, as meteorologists say it most likely stems from a meteor.

Even the rain could not dampen the spirit of Norton this Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Today, our community came together to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Thank you to the Veterans Council, the VFW Norton, veterans, public safety, Scouts, students, all volunteers. Special thanks as well to Representative Steven Howitt, Select Board Chair Roger Marsan, Select Board Vice Chair Alec Rich III, Bob Kimball , Kevin O'Neil, and Town Manager Mark S. Gould, Jr., and all those who came together in remembrance and gratitude.

During today’s remarks, we reflected on the words: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” We also remembered Norton hero Master Sergeant Gregory R. Trent, a Green Beret who gave the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan 14 years ago. Those who knew him described him as humble, steady, and deeply devoted to his family and teammates.

We remember those currently serving and their families and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. God bless America! 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 IMPORTANT MEMORIAL DAY UPDATE – NORTON 🇺🇸

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, the Memorial Day Parade scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026 has been cancelled.

A Memorial Day Ceremony will instead be held indoors at 10:00 AM at Yelle Elementary School, followed by refreshments in the cafeteria.

While the parade route may be changing, our commitment to honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country remains unchanged.

We hope members of the community will still join us as we come together in remembrance, gratitude, and respect.

Please help share this update with family, friends, and neighbors.

🇺🇸 We will never forget. 🇺🇸
