Today is Safer Internet Day!
The Northwood Police Department, as part of the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, is joining agencies across the country in encouraging families, caregivers, and community members to take an active role in promoting safer online experiences for children and teens.
Kids today face real risks online, including misuse of images, AI‑generated deepfakes, online grooming, and scams. No child is ever to blame for being targeted. They deserve protection, support, and trusted adults who will listen.
We’re asking our community to take action today:
• Start a conversation with your child or teen about their online world
• Review privacy settings and digital boundaries together
• Make sure they know they can come to you if something feels wrong
• Share these resources with others who may benefit

Here are a couple of simple but important online safety tips to keep in mind:
🔹 Review privacy settings together. Make sure your child’s social media accounts are set to private, and talk about what information should never be shared publicly.
🔹 Know who your children are talking to. Remind them not to accept friend requests or messages from anyone they don’t know in real life.

As we move through the holiday season a time of reflection, gratitude, and community, the Northwood Police Department would like to sincerely thank the residents of Northwood for their continued support. The Northwood Police Department is pleased to announce the replacement of car 2 with a new patrol cruiser, as well as upgraded Axon body-worn cameras for our officers.
Regularly incorporating new cruisers is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable fleet. Police vehicles endure high mileage and constant use, creating wear and tear even on the most well-maintained cruisers. Replacing older vehicles helps reduce maintenance issues, save money, and most importantly, enhances safety for both our officers and the citizens we serve.
We are also excited to deploy new upgraded Axon body-worn cameras. These updated cameras are more user-friendly for our officers, with better quality footage and will further strengthen transparency and accountability in all of our interactions with the community.
We appreciate the continued support from the community that allows us to serve Northwood safely, effectively, and professionally.
