Ed Schimmel - for Ohio Representative 44th District

Ed Schimmel - for Ohio Representative 44th District Edward Schimmel is running to represent Ohio's 44th District. The election is May 5, 2026. Paid for by Edward Schimmel Election Committee.

I am an attorney, business owner, and two term member of Northwood city council. On May 12, 2015, I announced a campaign to be the next Mayor of Northwood. I'm now in my second term as Mayor of our great city. I am a Northwood high school graduate (1995), the University of Toledo (1999) and the University of Toledo School of Law (2003). In addition to practicing law, my father and I farm 275 acres

, most of which is located within the City of Northwood. I am a past president of the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, and remain active with the Toledo Bar Association. I am married to Carolyn Schimmel (Howard), who also graduated from Northwood High School (1996), and together we have three children. As Mayor, I have worked to draw new jobs to the city, address blighted residential and commercial properties, improve communication between the city and residents, and increase the quality of life for all Northwood residents. My focus at this time is redevelopment of the Woodville Mall property, creating connectivity throughout the city, roadway improvements, and public safety.

I attended two very nice Memorial Day events today honoring those troops that never made it home.

Whitehouse was the first stop at a packed downtown ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park, where we heard from Mayor Bingham and Lt Colonel David Atkinson.

Waterville was the second ceremony at the Wakeman Cemetery, where we heard from Mayor Pedro. The Anthony Wayne Band, scout troops, and the local veterans organizations did a great job honoring our fallen soldiers at both of the events.

Sunday evening we played some bingo and had a delicious chicken dinner at the St. Joseph Parish Festirama in Sylvania. We grabbed a few dinners to go for the kids after Carolyn hit a bingo. Very nice event put on by some friendly volunteers of a parish that had its first Sunday Mass in 1870.

Friday - I visited with the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce at their Coffee and Connections. Checking out new homes being built in the 44th District. With all of the economic development we have had in the District, we need more housing that is affordable for families relocating for new jobs in the Toledo area. Townhomes are a very good option, and we have several developments throughout the area.

Saturday - Adrian and I volunteered at the Northwood Community Cares golf outing. This yearly event raises money for the annual Northwood Fall Festival. We sold raffle tickets and watched the hole-in-one hole. Unfortunately there were no winners.

Sunday - planting 2026 has begun. Please remember to move over for farm equipment and be patient if you're stuck behind a slow moving tractor. The driver's of the machinery can't always see your car behind them.

The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce had a huge crowd last night of 240 attendees at their annual Prism Awards at Maumee Bay State Park. Great to see so many business leaders and hear about some thriving businesses in our community.

Congratulations to all of the nominees and to the winners of various awards. Northwood VFW was a big winner of the evening taking home Non-profit of the Year.

Thank you voters in Ohio's 44th District! We worked hard these last few months in getting our message out there, and will continue reaching out to voters and attending events throughout the 44th District.

I appreciate all of the help with mailers, event organizing, door knocking, contributions, event attendance and sign placements. The results last night reflect the work many of my supporters put into this campaign. I am very grateful for your help.

We spent last night and this morning picking up signs. If you're willing to store your yard sign for future use, that would be great. If not, or if you need a replacement, send me a message and I will pick them up or give you freshly made signs for future use.

Best wishes to John Rozic on his future endeavors. He is a good conservative and is very knowledgeable regarding issues facing local and state government.

Congratulations to all of the candidates who came out on top yesterday. My thoughts and prayers will be with those that came up short. "Every day is a new day" - Ernest Hemingway.

Thanks again voters of Lucas, Wood and Ottawa counties!

Spent Sunday doing some of my favorite things.

I went to Urban Pine Winery (3415 Briarfield Blvd, Maumee, OH 43537) for bingo with two of my favorite girls - my wife Carolyn and daughter Ava. The food and wine was really good. The bingo was at no cost, so long as you purchased food/drinks. Bingo is held on Sundays. I would recommend checking them out, and supporting a local business in the 44th District.

The afternoon was spent getting equipment ready for planting 2026 on Schimmel Family Farms - founded by my great-great-grandfather in 1899. We are doing what we can to feed the world as a small piece of the largest part of the Ohio Economy - Agriculture.

Tomorrow is the day. Remember to get out and vote. I humbly ask for you to consider checking the box for Schimmel for State Representative.

Another great week in the 44th district.

I attended the annual Goodwill industries of Northwest Ohio awards banquet.

It was a privilege to see Northwood council member Andrew Dickey awarded the teacher of the year at the Northwood seniors awards ceremony. On behalf of the Northwood CIC I awarded a scholarship to a very deserving student.

Friday I toured two amazing Northwood businesses - NWO Beverage and then went over to Treu House of Munch.

Saturday: door-to-door in Genoa talking with voters about their concerns in the 44th District.
