On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00 P.M., at the Priestley Memorial Chapel at 380 Front St. in Northumberland, as the fifth speaker in a special series presented by the Northumberland County Historical Society, Chris Yohn will present a talk about The West Branch and the War for Independence. Yohn will share details of his recently released novel Liberty's Land which recounts the true story of the American Revolution on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The men, women and children who settled the valley made remarkable contributions to American independence and their real-life experiences are more compelling than anything that could have been imagined.

Yohn's presentation will include Fort Augusta's role, the Big Runaway, and other significant events that occurred nearby. Yohn, a native of the West Branch Valley, now lives and works in Virginia.

The remaining presentation in the series takes place on Sunday, July 19th, at 2:00 P.M. Ben Becker’s topic is Following Orders: Revolutionary Drum Cadences. It will take place at the
Priestley Chapel, located at 380 Front Street, Northumberland, PA. In addition to street parking, there is a parking lot on the alley beside the Chapel. It is provided for the Chapel use.

A special program will take place on Sunday, August 2nd at 2:00 P.M. at Higher Hope Church, 1000 Race Street, Sunbury, PA, which will feature a Reenactment of the reading of the
Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, a patriotic concert by the Sunbury City Band, and refreshments.

All programs are free and open to the public.
