Joseph Priestley House Museum Visitor Center, Gift Shop and Home/Laboratory is open for tours on Saturday and Sunday from March - November. Call for private tours 570-473-9474.

Special events are also on weekends throughout the year. Come and visit the Joseph Priestley House Museum! Tour the American home of one of the brightest minds of the 18th century. A Theologian, Chemist, Politician, Educator and Philosopher. Friend of our founding fathers, discoverer of the oxygen we breath and the carbonation we drink. School and Scout groups invited, just give us a call!

Earlier this month we celebrated Joseph Priestley's groundbreaking discovery of oxygen with hands-on science demonstrations and live music on the lawn — from fiddle tunes under the trees to bubbling experiments straight out of Priestley's own lab notes. Head to our website to see the full gallery!

Back to school means it's time to start planning Scout Trips!🎒🍂 Scout leaders, mark your calendars — Scouts Day at the Joseph Priestley House Museum is Saturday, September 26th, and all scouts are welcome.

The garden is in bloom at the Joseph Priestley House!🌸 Take a stroll through history and see where the story of an American scientist, minister, and Founding Father comes to life.

Tours run Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm, through November 15th. Walk-ins welcome — no reservation needed!

School tours and special tours are also available upon request. Bring your service dog along, too — we have an outdoor area just for them. 🐾

In case you missed it: Susquehanna River Valley put together a great "History Comes Alive" video for their America250PA series, spotlighting Northumberland's own Joseph Priestley — the man who discovered oxygen. He fled persecution in England and made this town his home in 1794, and his house and lab still stand here today as the Joseph Priestley House Museum. Worth the watch! 🧪
