Walker Elementary School The purpose of this page is to keep all of our stakeholders up to date on news and events held here Walker Elementary School was established in 1973.

The school is in Samantha, Alabama which is located in the northern section of
Tuscaloosa near the Fayette County line. Walker's faculty and staff pride themselves in being a close-knit community school. Our students, parents, and stakeholders share in our vision for the students' future, are actively involved, and take ownership of student achievement and school upkeep. We are a part of the North

side High School cluster in the Tuscaloosa County School System, which consists of Walker Elementary, Northside Middle, and Northside High School.

Give your child a boost in reading confidence this summer with individualized, one-on-one literacy instruction focused on phonics, spelling, fluency, and handwriting.

We finished our first week of going "Around the World" with Academic Academy and Jumpstart. North and South America brought us dream catchers, cheese quesadillas, apple empanadas and a trilingual version of The Giving Tree. Art and cooking are excellent ways to test out functional reading and following directions skills. Special thanks to Ms. Emily Hicks and Ms. Becca for volunteering in our literacy rotation. Ms. Hicks amazed us with her Spanish and French versions of the story. Next week we will learn about Europe!

Please help us welcome Mrs Morris who will be serving as our Building Based Math Coach!

Hello! My name is Julia Morris, and I am excited to serve as the Math Coach at Walker Elementary. I have spent the past six years working as a classroom teacher in both upper and lower elementary grades, and my husband Kyle and I have a 4-year-old daughter, Emma Blayke!
I am passionate about helping both students and teachers succeed. In my role, I will work alongside teachers to strengthen math instruction and help students build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love for learning. I truly believe every child can be successful in math, and I am committed to supporting that growth each day.
I am honored to join the Walker Elementary family and look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and collaboration!

Please help us welcome Ms Hensley to our 5th grade team!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to start my first year of teaching at Walker Elementary School! I am so blessed to be teaching 5th grade with an amazing team and to continue working with the same group of students I had during my internship! I am originally from Mahomet, Illinois and just graduated from the Multiple Abilities Program at The University of Alabama. I am so grateful to be a part of such a warm and welcoming community here at Walker and cannot wait for the upcoming school year!
When I am not at school, I enjoy hiking, baking, and spending time with family. I can’t wait to meet my class and have an amazing year! Go Rams 🩵🐏
