Last night, members of the Northport Fire Department gathered with members of the Northport Police Department and and residents of Northport at the Village Park to honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the brave firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memory and stand together as a community

Yesterday afternoon, the Northport Fire Department assisted the Huntington Fire Department in Lloyd Harbor with a search and rescue operation at Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge.
Northport Fire Department UTV 2-9-28 was requested to assist in the search for a missing person. 2-9-28 and its crew searched the preserve for approximately three hours alongside multiple fire departments and law enforcement agencies.
The missing person was ultimately located unharmed, and search operations were concluded.
Great work by all departments and agencies involved in bringing the incident to a successful conclusion.

Starting tomorrow night! 7-11pm each night. Please come on down and join us for our annual Firemen’s Fair! Located on Steers Ave, down in the pit. Support your local volunteers! Our annual Fair is fun for the whole family, including rides, games of chance, and delicious food prepared by your local volunteers! We will be posting any potential cancellations or delays here. We hope to see you there!

This morning, our Fire Boat 2926 responded to assist the Centerport Fire Department with a floating dock fire in Centerport Harbor.

Our boat crew quickly navigated to the neighboring harbor and extinguished the fire.

We are grateful to make an announcement on behalf of The Tai Chi Northport Community, hosted by Emily Eisen, will be bringing the
Tai Chi for Golfers Workshop at the Crab Meadow Golf Course on Tuesday, July 7 from 10:00 AM to 1 o’clock.

*15% of all proceeds will be gratefully donated to The Northport Volunteer Fire Department.*

We look forward to having a fun and highly functional workshop together.

This afternoon Engine 296 was first due to a motor vehicle accident on Route 25A. While en route, Chief 31 advised Engine 296 that one person was trapped in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, Engine 296’s crew utilized the Hurst tools (Jaws of Life) to remove both driver’s side doors and the B-post, allowing access to the patient. The patient was treated and transported by Northport Rescue to a local hospital.

All operations were conducted under the command of 1st Assistant Chief Bill Scherer.

Outstanding work by all members involved in a challenging extrication operation. Job well done by all crews operating at the scene.

This afternoon, Engine 293 and Engine 294 responded to a brush fire off Seaside Court. Crews operated for approximately one hour and extinguished the brush fire covering an area of roughly 100 feet by 100 feet.
All operations were conducted under the command of 1st Assistant Chief Bill Scherer.
Excellent work by all members involved.
