Wells Fargo Foundation grants $31,000 to The SafeGuard Group to advance its efforts to improve housing security by providing tools and training to New York and North Carolina homeowners.

The SafeGuard Group and other non-profit housing counseling agencies throughout the United States have received grants to strengthen housing stability for renters and homeowners in regions facing rising financial challenges. The SafeGuard Group will use the funding to enhance local housing counselors’ capacity to offer foreclosure prevention assistance, eviction assistance, financial counseling and coaching.

Through this partnership with Wells Fargo, The SafeGuard Group will continue implementing the Keeping People Housed initiative and fortify support for housing counseling agencies that provide financial literacy services and training on critical topics including home affordability, budgeting, credit history, fair housing regulations, and homebuyer education. As state and federal programs associated with COVID-19 have ended, demand for these services has increased exponentially, underscoring their critical importance in helping people stay in their homes.
