CAANH H.R. 1 Grocery Card Program — New Haven, CT
The Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH) is offering a one‑time $300 grocery card to eligible residents whose SNAP benefits were terminated in Dec. 2025 due to the H.R. 1 work requirement changes
Who Can Qualify
ABAWD status: You must be an Able‑Bodied Adult Without Dependants — age 18–64, physically and mentally able to work, and not living with a dependent child under 14
SNAP loss due to H.R. 1: You must have received a notice that your SNAP benefits ended because of the H.R. 1 work requirement changes
Application: You must meet eligibility during an intake application; the card will be issued via the Ambiko electronic card system
Program Timeline:
Appointments: August 4, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Distribution: Through CAANH and other Connecticut Community Action Agencies; cards will be loaded onto your Ambiko account after eligibility is confirmed
