Northfield Volunteer Fire Company The Northfield Volunteer Fire Company proudly serves 1800 people living in an area of 12 square miles, including a 4 mile section of CT Route 8.

The Northfield Volunteer Fire Company was established in September of 1938 to provide fire protection for the village of Northfield. We also provide mutual aid response to the Litchfield, Bantam, East Litchfield, and Thomaston Fire Departments. In 1981 our organization became certified
as an EMS First Responder for our district. We currently operate at the MRT-D and EMT-B level. The Company is sta

ffed by 37 dedicated men and women in addition to a Junior Corp consisting of young adults between the ages of 14 and 18. Services Provided:

Hazardous Material Response
BLS Emergency Medical Service
Vehicle Rescue (Extrication)
Search & Rescue

These awards represent the countless of hours our members spent cleaning, polishing, repainting, attending Wednesdays nights work parties, and representing Northfield with pride. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated this parade season and helped get our apparatus ready. 🚒

"If you need a better excuse to skip work tomorrow, here are a few pre-approved options: 1) Food poisoning from that sketchy lunch at McDonald's, 2) Sudden-onset 'golf fever' (highly contagious), or 3) Doing your civic duty to support the Northfield Fire Department. We tee off tomorrow, Friday, August 21, 2026 at 12:00 PM, at Crestbrook Park Golf Course! We have a few last-minute player spots left open, and we are throwing in lunch before you play, a full dinner afterward, and a massive raffle with prizes you actually want to win!
