🏃‍♂️💨 Good Luck, Dominic! 💨🏃‍♂️

The Northfield Police Department would like to congratulate Northfield Community School 7th grader Dominic Buccafurni on an incredible achievement!

On June 18, 2026, Dominic will compete in the 100-meter dash at the New Balance Nationals at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dominic has made history as the first student ever from Northfield Community School to qualify for this prestigious event, which brings together the top track and field athletes in the nation from 8th grade and below.

This is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to Dominic’s hard work, dedication, and talent. He will be competing against some of the fastest young sprinters in the country, and we couldn't be more proud of him.

Please join us in wishing Dominic the best of luck as he represents the Northfield Community School on the national stage!

Good luck, Dominic! The NPD will be cheering for you every step of the way! 🏅👏

**Public Announcement For Clarification**

There is no intention for any of our Crossing Guards to be laid off. I can assure you that we appreciate all of our Crossing Guards, and what they do for our children and our community. They are an asset to our community, and we know that.

There have been exploratory measures taken to research subcontracting the “management” of our Crossing Guards. Meaning managing the current Crossing Guards that you all know and love. There has been no research, or even discussion about replacing our current Crossing Guards.

We, as a police department, will continually research ways that we can best utilize our time and assets in the best way to serve our community. Some things we look at may make sense to us after we research it, and some may not. There are many things that we look at to determine this. I believe that we must do our due diligence in researching all ways to do things more efficiently.

To be clear, we look forward to all of our current Crossing Guards being employed as Crossing Guards moving forward. We love and appreciate them, and what they do, just like you all do. What is being explored is if it would make more sense for an outside contractor to manage these Crossing Guards, and everything that entails. I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Veterans Park this Memorial Day to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We would also like to thank Sgt. Michael Bach of the Northfield Police Department for serving as the guest speaker. Sgt. Bach is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq from November 2004 to November 2005. During his remarks, he spoke about the Atlantic County Veteran’s Response Team, the importance of veteran mental health, and ensuring resources are available to those who have served our nation.

A special thank you as well to the Mainland Regional High School Band and the Northfield Community School Band for their outstanding performances, and for the beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.

We are grateful to our community members, veterans, local organizations, and first responders who joined us in paying tribute to those who served. Your presence helped make this ceremony a meaningful reminder of the true purpose of Memorial Day.

From all of us at the Northfield Police Department, thank you for your continued support. Have a safe Memorial Day, and may we never forget the heroes who gave everything for our freedom.
