A busy week in the garden. The preschoolers planted potatoes, a few of the older students have been working alongside the younger children in the garden, seeds needed to be planted for a big batch of seedlings to be grown in the greenhouse for the garden stand, there was a lot of daily watering to do to care for newly planted tomatoes, peppers and flowers and we had good fun tasting sour rhubarb and playing with giant rhubarb leaves. The garden is happy to have sunny, hot days! Summer is almost here!

A busy week in the garden! Young gardeners planted and staked over 50 tomato plants, built tomato trellises, moved straw bales and big bags of potting soil, prepped the garden bed~planted cucumber, sunflower, pumpkin, squash and flower seeds to grow in the greenhouse for mid June planting~and for our summer farm stand and continuing seedling sale-(open daily-honor system cash box). PreK had fun making wet streams of mud while watering plants on the one very hot day last week. There is much to do to prepare the garden for the summer~many hands makes for happy work!

The Mount Desert Elementary School's seedling sale was a wonderful success! The children and garden folk send their deepest thanks to all who bought plants to support our school garden! The 5th graders, who entirely ran the sale, were the most amazing hosts~representing their school with honor and kindness. The class received many compliments about how helpful and proud they were to be clerks, cashiers and representatives of their school~a very important early lesson in good citizenship! Mustang Pride!
