A busy week of harvesting! Last year's preschoolers planted seed potatoes this past June~now kindergarteners~the young gardeners harvested a half bushel of potatoes and had great fun digging for buried treasure tubers! The chilly nights and shorter days are slowing the plant growth, the birds and squirrels are feasting on the zinnias and sunflower seed heads~there are bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and even a fat, little mouse scooting through the straw~so much wildlife has settled around the garden~we love sharing our beautiful and peaceful sanctuary!

The middle of August in the school garden...the bees are busy, the vegetables are ripening, the birds~cardinals, yellow finches, sparrows, chickadees, mourning doves, robins, hummingbirds, house finches, ravens, blue jays and the occasional pair of mallard ducks are daily visitors to the feeders and flowers for seeds and bird baths for the drinking water that they depend on. The garden is buzzing with wildlife all playing a part in a small but very important ecosystem keeping a thriving growing environment healthy and vibrant.
