🎓 Celebrating Our 5th Graders! 🎉

What a wonderful Farewell to 5th Grade event! We had so much fun celebrating an incredible group of students as they prepare for their next adventure in middle school.

From laughter and games to special memories shared with friends, the celebration was a perfect way to recognize all of their hard work, growth, and achievements throughout their elementary school years.

We are so proud of our 5th graders and can't wait to see all the amazing things they'll accomplish in the years ahead. Congratulations, Class of 2026—we're cheering you on every step of the way! 🎓✨

Last week, a few lucky winners from the District 31 Gala cashed in their prizes and got a ride to school in a police car or a fire truck. They arrived at school in style with lights and announcements over the speakers. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Education Foundation Gala, and congratulations to our winners!

More fun photos from Monday's assemblies...

On Monday, our K-5 students had the opportunity to see Matt Wilhlem. His accomplishments include: He is a three-time X Games Medalist, World Championship Silver Medalist, two-time United States National Champion, and Guinness World Record Holder.
Among other television appearances, Matt advanced to the semi-finals on America's Got Talent. He also won America's Got Talent YouTube Competition and won FOX TV's 30 Seconds to Fame.

At the assemblies, he talked about his motto, "Never give up," and shared his own story of being bullied. One day, a bunch of his peers made fun of him and pushed him around. Another peer, Glen, came over and stood up for Matt, which changed his life, and he wasn't bothered again. He referred to Glen as his "Batman" and encouraged Winkelman students to be someone's Batman.

We were excited to welcome Matt Wilhelm, a professional BMX rider, X Games athlete, and Guinness World Records holder, to Winkelman for a special student assembly!

Matt has spent years amazing audiences around the world with his incredible bicycle stunts and an inspiring message about perseverance, goal-setting, hard work, and making positive choices. Through his high-energy presentation, students learned the importance of determination, character, and self-belief while enjoying BMX tricks.

Thank you to Matt Wilhelm for bringing many smiles to our Winkelman Wildcats! 🎉

The Early Childhood SLPs, Callie Biasco (L) and Tina Panzl (R) celebrated National Speech-Language-Hearing Month with the addition of a communication board for the preschool playground. Inclusive supports like this provide our students access to communication across their school day, not just in the classroom.

🎓💙 What a special afternoon celebrating our graduating seniors during the Glenbrook South High School & Glenbrook North High School Grad Walk!

Today, we were thrilled to welcome our former Winkelman and Field students back to District 31 as they took a walk down memory lane through the halls where their educational journeys began. Seeing these remarkable young adults return in their caps and gowns was a powerful reminder of how far they have come and all they have accomplished.

Thank you to all of our graduating seniors who joined us today, as well as our staff, students, and families who helped make this celebration so meaningful. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and look forward to all the amazing things your future holds.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Once a District 31 student, always part of the District 31 family. 💙🎓

Ms. Cho’s early childhood scientists spent six exciting weeks learning alongside some very squirmy friends! 🪱

Our Little Wildcats students helped prepare the soil for their worm farm, made predictions about what worms like to eat, and even selected the worms’ meals. Throughout the unit, students explored worm-themed sensory bins, enjoyed worm movement breaks, created worm-inspired art, observed the worms up close, and felt them wiggle in their hands.

At the end of the study, students released the worms outside and watched them burrow into the ground—helping enrich the soil and support our environment. What a wonderful hands-on learning experience filled with curiosity, discovery, and care for nature!
