Information from NC SUN Meals Programs

Through SUN Meals Programs, youth 18 and under can enjoy meals onsite together at school and community sites. SUN Meals help youth get the nutrition they need all summer long and enjoy time with other kids and teens. In some rural areas, SUN Meals To-Go may be available for pick-up or delivery. Also called non-congregate meals, SUN Meals To-Go sponsors may provide multiple days of meals at a time to youth 18 and under during the summer break.

Call the USDA National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (English) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (Spanish).

More than 1 million North Carolina children will receive SUN Bucks benefits this summer, helping families purchase healthy food while school is out.

The first round of benefits will provide $120 per eligible child, with $121 million being distributed statewide. SUN Bucks helps bridge the summer nutrition gap when many children no longer have access to free or reduced-price school meals.

🎉 Wilkes County Schools is wrapping up an incredible 2025-2026 school year!
Our schools have been hard at work celebrating all that our students have accomplished. From end-of-year testing to field days and award ceremonies, we've been showcasing the amazing work happening in our classrooms.

🏆 Highlights from across the district:
West Wilkes High's softball team secured the state championship for the second year in a row!
Our Early College students have graduated and are ready for their next chapter.
Elementary students have excelled all year long!
8th grade promotion ceremonies start tomorrow at 8:30 AM in school gyms.
And tomorrow afternoon, our remaining graduates will take the stage to receive their diplomas! 🎓

🎉 ¡Las Escuelas del Condado de Wilkes están concluyendo un increíble año escolar 2025-2026!
