We are excited that we had another Adventure 250 Winner at Adams Homestead. We hope everyone enjoyed the Adventure 250 program this summer!!

Congratulations to Ted, our Week 16 Adventure 250 winner!

Ted completed his Adventure 250 adventures at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve and won a Plano Backpack Tackle Box, sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents of South Dakota ! Ted received his prize at GFP Outdoor Campus East, where it was presented by Game, Fish and Parks staff and Aaron Smith of Aaron M. Smith Insurance & Financial Group, a partner agent.

Located in Sioux Falls, GFP Outdoor Campus East connects people with the outdoors through hands-on opportunities to learn about and enjoy fishing, hunting, wildlife, conservation, and other outdoor activities.

Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve offers a beautiful glimpse into South Dakota’s natural and cultural history, with scenic trails, native prairie, wooded areas, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.

Adventure 250: Make Your History has officially wrapped up, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated! From exploring new parks and trying new activities to sharing adventures with family and friends, you helped make this summer one to remember.

While we wait for the migrating monarchs to arrive, it is the time to download the Project Monarch app to track the radio tagged monarchs. After the butterflies are tagged YOU can help scientists track their migration by using your cell phone with the app. There will be an annoucement once they are released in the next week or so. To all of our visitors: We just were informed that the chip seal crew and broom cleaning crew are heading this way to do work in our parking lot. We will have to close it for awhile until work is done. You are more than welcome to park near the homestead site on Westshore Drive and walk in. Please do not park on the curve on Westshore Drive. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We know that people are excited to get to the park, but please slow down and watch for turtles crossing the road. They are making a journey to the lake. If you decide to help it across the road, make sure you put it in the direction it is heading. Thank you and see you at the park soon.

We’re wrapping up 17 weeks of exploring South Dakota State Parks with one last weekly prize! This week, four winners across the state will each take home a Jackery 300W Portable Power Station, perfect for keeping your gear powered up on camping trips, road trips and outdoor adventures.
