SPOTLIGHT: We're recognizing Liane Welte, Library Director, as she prepares to retire after 10 years of service at the North Sioux City Community Library.

During her time with the City, Liane has helped ensure the library remains a trusted source of information and a welcoming space for connection, serving residents at every stage of life while adapting to the community’s evolving needs. Her leadership has played an important role in keeping the library a steady, valued part of the community.

When asked what she enjoys most, Liane shared that it is the small, everyday moments. From conversations with residents to seeing a child excited about a book, those moments make the work meaningful. And her favorite spot in North Sioux City? The library, of course. It is where some of her favorite people gather.

If you see her at the library in the coming weeks, make sure to wish her well before her final day on May 29.
