Public Safety Update

A short time ago, per established safety protocols, the Dakota Valley School District was placed on lockdown after officers responded to a report of a subject in the area who was possibly armed with a knife.

Officers quickly secured the area, and the subject was located and taken into custody. The lockdown has since been lifted.

At this time, there is no threat to the general public. We appreciate the cooperation of the school staff, students, and community during this incident.

The North Sioux City Police Department, along with surrounding agencies, has recently taken reports of thefts and burglaries involving commercial properties in the area.

We want to remind our community and business owners to:
🔒 Secure your property — lock doors, windows, gates, and storage areas. Use equipment to help aid in securing portable storage containers/trailers.
💡 Be vigilant — report any suspicious activity or unfamiliar vehicles.
📸 Review security systems — make sure cameras and lighting are working properly.

If you see something suspicious, please report it immediately by calling 605-232-4301.

Your awareness and quick reporting can help prevent further incidents and keep our community safe.

Found Dog Alert! A Dog was found near River Dr and Sodrac Drive. To retrieve the dog, proof of ownership is mandatory. The dog is currently located at the North Sioux City Police Department until the morning. Please contact 605-232-4301
