Historic” Veterans Park honors the service and sacrifice of American Veterans of all eras and wars since the American Civil War, including a couple Revolutionary War Veterans. Veterans Park originated with the gifting of land to the City of North St. Paul by Founder Henry Castle, also a “Historic” Minnesota figure and combat wounded Civil War Veteran.
Originally called “Central Park” the name evolved to “Cannon Park” before being christened “Veterans Park” in 2015, this plot of land is the reliquary of the names and stories of 1471 Veterans etched on red clay Memorial Pavers, of the 161 World War One Veterans on a Bronze Roll of Honor and of the 36 local Veterans who paid the ultimate price for Freedom listed on the Memorial Wall.
On 1 April 2026, Veterans Park Committee members raised the “Historical” Minnesota Flag to fly over all these Patriots, the majority having served our Nation under that “Historic” state banner since 1893.”

“ Spring means fresh and renew, so Veterans Park is joining North St. Paul to refresh the “Historic” Veterans Park grounds. A new hedge of 45 ARROWWOOD VIBURNUM shrubs is being planted by City Parks Crews to brighten up the Park. A haircut & trim followed on all the park plantings. Pine Creek Services then will stop by to soft power wash all paver, granite and walkway surfaces. New flags proudly wave on upgraded flagpole hardware in preparation of Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 25. Join us at noon that day to remember or Fallen and Deceased Veterans.”

“Veterans Park is undergoing a shrubbery replacement plan in 2025-2026. The original Ninebark shrubs were getting weather worn and bare in places. An agreement between the Veterans Park Committee and the North St. Paul Public Parks will replace the present Ninebark border hedge with new plantings of Arrowood Viburnum for added color and durability in Spring 2026. Stay tuned”.

“ Monday, October 13th, 2025 is the 250th Birthday of the United States Navy.
The Navy was authorized in 1775 by order of the Continental Congress to sail the seaways and protect the American Colonies. That mission continues to this day protecting the United States of America, her seaways and allies from aggression. Veterans Park salutes the United States Navy and the proud, brave Sailors who go in Harm’s Way”.
