Hello NSP,

Last week we saw accountability take place in the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. We know that though this provides some relief, that there is a lot of work left to do. This includes managing the grief impacting our community on an ongoing basis. I encourage you to reach out to Healing Spaces with Ramsey County.

As always, I welcome discussions, [email protected] and encourage you to bring forth important topics to you. Your voice is so important, we cannot do it alone.

Be well, NSP.

Residents are invited to attend a series of virtual and in-person community healing circles to address the hurt and trauma caused by the killing of George Floyd last summer and civil unrest that followed, the recent trial and verdict, and the killing of Daunte Wright in April.

Hello NSP,

I just have a few things to say:

First, my heart breaks for the family of Daunte Wright and the generational impact this has on everyone, especially people of color, and those living in Brooklyn Center. It's may be a lot to cope with given the world we live in today, the violence that festers, and the compounding of the trial and the pandemic. As NSP continues to racially diversify, we must build positive relationships between the City, new neighbors, and current residents. This also means making meaningful investments from housing, to roads, to transportation, to jobs.

In regards to COVID, the case positivity rate is increasing above 7%, the hospitalization rates and cases are growing.
COVID continues to take a toll on our NSP community in devastating ways.
Though I see hope with vaccination efforts, please continue to mask up and stay at least 6 feet apart.

I hope those who are needing a place of support will consider Healing Spaces with Ramsey County.

Please take incredible care of yourselves and feel free to contact me with your thoughts at [email protected]

Be well.

Tonight's scheduled in-person community healing circle at Rondo Community Library will be held virtually due to curfew.

My heart weighs heavy this week due to the acts of violence in our society. I want to talk about them.

The violence in Atlanta against Asian Americans (AAPI) and throughout the pandemic breaks my heart. We will not tolerate the hate against our elders and our women. This hate is not isolated to just the West Coast or the East Coast, it happens hear in Minnesota. It's happened to me, here, in NSP, as I campaigned. I will not tolerate hate, violence, discrimination, racism in our community.

Yesterday, our local business owners and first responder experienced a serious and violent incident. Thank you to our staff and first responders for their work for providing immediate care, apprehending the suspect, and communicating and informing the public. I send my thoughts to the business owners and their families as they begin their healing process.

We will not tolerate this violence or any violence in North St. Paul. It will take all of us to prevent these acts of hate and we must be adamant against it, learn about it, and bring in kindness and compassion.

Please take care, NSP.
