As many of you are aware of the tragic event that unfolded in Pawtucket, RI, this past Monday. The incident gained national attention, with dispatchers from across the country and the world following the radio activity as it unfolded. The immense stress faced by the Pawtucket Police and Fire Dispatchers was palpable to all those monitoring the radio.

In the aftermath, many agencies reached out via social media to offer empathy and support. While several departments wanted to send food to our center, logistics and a lack of local knowledge made those gestures difficult to coordinate at the time.

Today, however, we received a delivery of "Crumbl" baked goods. The only message provided was that it came from a center in Iowa. I believe this was a collaborative effort of many centers spearheaded by one agency to ensure the delivery reached us.

For those who may not know, Pawtucket Fire is dispatched through a combined operation with North Providence at our center. Our dispatchers are trained as a single unit to handle both agencies, which is vital in high-intensity situations where a single agency crew might otherwise be overwhelmed. While our team members are trained professionals, nothing truly prepares you for a live active shooter call. They performed outstandingly under pressure.

To all the agencies that participated in this thoughtful gesture for our crews: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Best regards,

Ralph Nahigian

We invite you to join our dedicated team. We are currently determining open shifts and are looking for motivated individuals to apply. While prior dispatching experience is preferred, it is not required.

Candidates must be able to thrive in a high-stress environment, remaining calm and professional while handling multiple incidents and distressed callers. The role requires exceptional multitasking skills, as dispatchers manage a minimum of eight computer screens simultaneously.

Although the work is demanding, it is a highly rewarding career for those who enjoy helping people and want to be part of a team committed to saving lives and protecting property.

Dear Residents,

It has come to our attention that some of you may not have received recent emergency notifications, such as parking ban alerts. Following an investigation, our software vendor, CodeRED Crisis24, informed us of a database issue that resulted in some lost data. Please note that data was not compromised, but the vendor is unable to confirm which records remain valid.

To ensure you receive future alerts from the Town of North Providence, we ask that all residents register at the following link:

https://accountportal.onsolve.net/northprovidenceri/

Alternatively, you can visit northprovidenceri.gov and click the "Get Emergency Notifications" icon.

If you do not have access to a computer, please contact Communications Director Ralph Nahigian at 401-719-1500, option 9. Please leave a message with your call-back number, and we will contact you to assist with your registration.

Ralph Nahigian

The town of North Providence uses CODERED Crisis24 as our Reverse 911 notification system in conjunction with the RI State Emergency Management Agency. They have done a complete rebuild of their system that has caused some agencies issues when sending notifications. Our first notification last night went out 3 times when it should have only gone out once with the correct date. We hope to have it corrected on today's notification. Thank you for your patience.
