American Parkinson Disease Association, Rhode Island Chapter

American Parkinson Disease Association, Rhode Island Chapter Strength in optimism. Hope in progress. The Chapter is an all volunteer organization.

We seek to educate those interested in learning more about Parkinson's disease, to assist support groups throughout the State, to help develop programs to meet the needs of Parkinson's patients and their caregivers and to raise funds to find the cure. While a few of us can accomplish some of these goals, most of them require the support and involvement of people like you.

In this episode of APDA’s Thriving Through Occupational Therapy series, we will explore how people living with Parkinson’s – and their families – can continue to enjoy recreation and leisure in meaningful ways, from hiking, fishing, and gardening, to other favorite outdoor activities. Entitled Re-creating Recreation – Access, Adaptation & Adventure and led by our expert guest Molly Wuebker, OTD, OTR/L, ADAC, this session will share real-life stories and practical examples that show how small, thoughtful changes to environments, equipment, and planning can make activities more accessible, reduce fatigue, and build confidence and independence.

Join us on May 14 and you’ll learn how to:
β€’ Spot supportive features in community programs and outdoor spaces
β€’ Discover adaptive recreation options
β€’ Find flexible strategies that can grow and change over time.
β€’ And much more!

Above all, this session celebrates choice, dignity, and staying connected to the activities that bring joy, meaning, and a sense of adventure. Molly will be answering questions from the audience, so register now and please submit your questions.
