⚠️ Planned Power Outage – Garage 40 (Cordell - St. Elmo Garage), Bethesda

MCDOT will be conducting a scheduled power shutdown at Garage 40 on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. as the Control System Room project reaches its final construction phase.
During this time, garage lighting, elevators, and other powered systems will be unavailable.
Signs will be posted at entrances, elevators, and pay kiosks to help guide you.

Earlier Today, County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council President Natali Fani-González, and Councilmember Kate Stewart joined Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Director Chris Conklin and local community leaders to celebrate the completion of phase one of the McComas Avenue Greenway in Wheaton.

The new Greenway is part of Montgomery County’s broader effort to expand Neighborhood Greenways, streets designed to prioritize walking and bicycling by reducing vehicle speeds and traffic volumes. During phase one, MCDOT installed a series of traffic‑calming improvements to help slow vehicles throughout the neighborhood, creating a safer and more comfortable environment for people traveling on foot or by bike.🚶‍♀️🚲

🚧 Road Closures in Poolesville 🚧
Starting on or about Tuesday, Sept. 15, MCDOT will temporarily close both Club Hollow Rd and Whites Store Rd to replace a failing metal culvert with a new concrete one.
Local traffic will be allowed up to the closure.
Work hours: 7 a.m.–5 p.m., weekdays only.
Estimated duration: about two weeks.
A signed detour will be in place.

Here’s an update from Metro Forward regarding improvements to certain routes. Check to see if your Metrobus route is affected.

We’re updating some bus routes to make them more reliable and improve connections starting Sunday, Sept. 13!

🚍 DC: D10, D1X
🚍 Maryland: M42, M44, P31, P63, P72, P73
🚍 Virginia: A58, A76

Key updates include direct service to South Lake Marketplace on Route P73 and the return of regular service on D10 and D1X after summer detours.

🚌💧 The future of zero-emission transit is arriving in Montgomery County!

Our first hydrogen buses are here, making MCDOT the first on the East Coast to introduce hydrogen fuel cell buses.

These 13 zero-emission hydrogen-electric buses will serve our Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, with service expected to begin in spring/summer 2027, starting on the US 29 Flash corridor.

🗓️ Work starts Monday, Sept. 14 in Bethesda and wraps up Thursday, Nov. 12 in Silver Spring — done during nights and weekends to minimize disruptions.
