Today, we're celebrating the unsung heroes who keep us mission-ready and safe – our aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs). They're a humble group who work behind the scenes, but their impact is felt on every mission. From routine maintenance to critical repairs, our AMTs ensure that when the call comes in, our aircraft are ready to respond. Their skill, dedication, and attention to detail make all the difference. Please help us give a big shout-out to our amazing maintenance team! 🛠️🚁

EMS Week 💙 Service Spotlight Saturday 🚑🚁

The commitment to EMS doesn’t end when the flight suit comes off.

Four members of our crew also dedicate their time volunteering with their hometown ambulance services, continuing to care for their communities both in the air and on the ground. Along with our medical director Dr Smith serving as physician medical director for several volunteer ground services.

Whether responding to emergencies locally or transporting critically ill and injured patients across the region, their passion for serving others remains the same, no matter the uniform they’re wearing that day.

We’re incredibly proud of the dedication Mark, Josh, Deb, Bre and Dr Smith show to EMS, their communities, and the patients who depend on them.

Thank you to all volunteer EMS providers who continue to answer the call when their communities need them most.

Tonight we had the privilege of teaching a Landing Zone class for 6 different Custer County agencies and Nebraska State Patrol, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout. Thank you to everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and participated in great discussion throughout the evening.

Classes like this are a great reminder that strong partnerships between EMS, fire, law enforcement, and community responders truly make a difference when seconds matter. We were also excited to showcase both aircraft available to serve the area — our Bell 407 helicopter and PC-12 fixed wing aircraft — and discuss how each plays a role in getting patients the care they need.

As we celebrate EMS Week, this year’s theme “Improving Outcomes Together” could not fit better. By training together, communicating together, and working together, we continue to strengthen the care we provide to our communities every day.

Thank you again to everyone who came out tonight, and Happy EMS Week!

EMS Week 🚁 Throwback Thursday 💙

Today we’re taking a look back at where it all began for our base.

When our program opened in 2014, our crew flew aboard an EC-135 helicopter, beginning a mission that has continued to grow and evolve over the years. Since day one, our focus has remained the same, providing rapid access to critical care and serving our communities when they need it most.

Over the years, aircraft, equipment, and technology may have changed, but the dedication of the crews behind the mission never has. Countless patients, families, and communities have been impacted by the teamwork, professionalism, and commitment of those who have served from this base since the beginning.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and grateful to everyone — past and present — who has helped shape our program into what it is today.

Here’s to honoring the past while continuing to move forward. 🚁

If you have any throwback pictures we’d love to see them! Feel free to comment them on this post!

EMS Week 🚁✈️ Workhorse Wednesday 💙

Today we’re highlighting the two incredible aircraft that help make our mission possible — and we’re honored to have both based right here with our crew.

Our base is equipped with a Bell 407 helicopter and a Pilatus PC-12 fixed wing aircraft, allowing us to provide critical care transport across a wide range of environments and patient needs.

The Bell 407 gives our crews the ability to respond quickly to scenes and hospitals throughout the region, with the speed and maneuverability needed for rapid access to patients when every minute matters. Its performance, reliability, and ability to access areas not easily reached by ground make it an essential part of emergency response.

Our Pilatus PC-12 fixed wing aircraft allows us to transport critically ill and injured patients over longer distances efficiently and comfortably. Known for its speed, range, reliability, and ability to operate in a variety of conditions, the PC-12 helps connect patients to specialized care both within and outside our region.

Having both rotor wing and fixed wing capabilities at one base allows our program to provide the right aircraft for the right mission, improving flexibility, response capabilities, and access to advanced medical care for the communities we serve. Fun fact- all of our clinicians and mechanics are trained and proficient on both aircraft!

We’re grateful for the crews who operate these aircraft safely every day and for the opportunity to continue serving our patients both in the air and on the ground. 🚑

EMS Week Training Tuesday 🚁📚

At LifeNet North Platte/Great Plains Air, our commitment to excellence goes far beyond the initial certifications required for hire. Our clinicians dedicate countless hours each year to continuing education, advanced training, and hands-on skill development to ensure we provide the highest level of care to every patient we serve.

From balloon pump training, NCPAP, and Baby Pod transport education, chest tube training, to quarterly airway scenarios intubation competency, and equipment competency, our crews continuously sharpen critical skills that can make all the difference in high-acuity situations.

Our teams also complete yearly simulation training and cadaver labs, participate in quarterly online education, and pursue advanced board certifications to expand their knowledge and expertise.

In addition, our clinicians maintain numerous certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC, and more, all while balancing the demands of caring for patients across the communities we serve.

Additionally, our crews take time out of their busy days to educate our community partners and teach outreach courses.

This EMS Week, we recognize the dedication, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of growth demonstrated by our crews every single day. Thank you for your commitment to learning, improving, and delivering exceptional care when it matters most.

🚁 Meet the Team Monday 🚑

As we celebrate EMS Week, we want to take a moment to introduce the incredible people behind our mission.

Our team is made up of highly skilled flight paramedics, flight nurses, fixed wing pilots, and rotor wing pilots, all working together to bring critical care to patients when minutes matter most.

Behind every flight is a crew committed to compassion, teamwork, professionalism, and excellence in patient care. Whether responding in the middle of the night, navigating challenging weather, or caring for patients during life-changing emergencies, this team shows up ready to serve every single day.

EMS is more than a career, it’s a calling, and we’re proud of the dedicated professionals who make our mission possible.

This week and every week, we’re grateful for this amazing crew and all EMS professionals serving their communities. 💙
