The North Plainfield Fire Department would like to thank the students and Art Club members of North Plainfield Middle School for creating this incredible mural honoring our firefighters and community.

The mural beautifully represents the bond between the fire department and the residents we proudly serve, incorporating our department emblem, local landmarks, fire apparatus, and community imagery.

We are truly honored by this thoughtful gift, which will proudly hang in our lobby for all who visit to enjoy for years to come.

We would also like to thank North Plainfield Wawa for generously sponsoring refreshments for the students, teachers, and firefighters who attended the mural unveiling.

Thank you to everyone involved for your creativity, hard work, and continued support of the North Plainfield Fire Department and our community.

Earlier today, crews responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 22 involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer. Due to a significant fluid leak from the tractor-trailer, all lanes of Route 22 were temporarily closed while emergency crews worked to mitigate the hazard and ensure the safety of motorists.

Somerset County HazMat and Union County HazMat were requested to assist with containment and cleanup operations. One patient was evaluated and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Later in the day, firefighters were dispatched to the opposite end of Route 22 for a brush fire. Crews quickly contained and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading further.

Busy Sunday for the North Plainfield Fire Department.

Crews were requested to assist the NJ Department of Environmental Protection with an injured bear that had climbed and become stuck in a tree.

North Plainfield firefighters and police officers worked alongside conservation officers to safely bring the bear down so it could receive proper care.

In addition, units responded to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. The vehicle was stabilized and the patient was successfully extricated.

No injuries to personnel. Just another day where you never know what the next call will bring.

Great day showing the next generation what we do.

Members of the North Plainfield Fire Department were proud to take part in Bring Your Child to Work Day alongside our partners from the Police Department and DPW. The kids had the opportunity to see our equipment up close, learn about what we do, and get a hands-on look at how their parents and our crews serve the community every day.

We want to thank Mayor LaRonde and Business Administrator Hollod for allowing us to help host this event for our children. Always a great experience and something we look forward to continuing.
