October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Native men experience domestic and intimate partner violence (IPV) at higher rates than men of other racial/ethnic groups in the U.S. They are almost two times more likely to experience domestic violence, sexual violence, or psychological aggression than U.S. men as a whole.
▲ 82% report experience violence of any form in their lifetime
▲ 73% report psychological aggression by a partner
▲ 44% report facing physical violence by an intimate partner
▲ 27% report sexual violence of any form
These numbers are not just statistics; they represent our fathers, brothers, uncles, and loved ones. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please know that you are not alone and there are resources available.
