Spring is that season between winter and summer, marked by warming temperatures, longer days, and the awakening of nature. In May, spring comes to an end and summer is around the corner. In the mean time the flowers are all in bloom, animals have migrated back, and we have increased plant growth, with yard work, lawn mowing and planting of gardens. Take a break on Friday, May 15th and let the Riders do the cooking. We will be serving up those famous Tebnderloin Dinners, from 5P to 7P. The thermostat will be set, just right and the refreshments chilled. If you can't join us, carry outs can be called in on: 309-382-9129, and we will have them waiting for you. The Auxillary will be satisfying that sweet tooth, over in the corner. No room? Take some home for a treat b4 retiring for the evening. Hope to see "you all"! Come out to the AMVETS and celebrate the first day of Spring, marked by the vernal equinox on Friday, March 20, 2026.
A bit of trivia… the vernal equinox is the specific moment in Earth's orbit when the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving from south to north, creating nearly equal day and night lengths. This event signifies increasing daylight and warmer temperatures. This year, this occurs precisely at 9:46am.
Come out and celebrate with the Riders, as they serve up those Famous Tenderloin Dinners, from 5-7P. Carry-outs may be ordered ahead on 309-382-9129.

Over in the corner, the Auxiliary will be caring for that sweet tooth, with their delicious desserts.

There are several things that come to mind while making this post. How fast summer has passed… Fall starts on Monday, September 22. If you haven’t heard, Nabisco has introduced Reese’s OREOs Cookies. These limited edition cookies feature creme filling made with real REESE'S Peanut Butter sauce and OREO cookie crumb inclusions, sandwiched between two OREO chocolate wafer cookies.
With this introduction, you will hear ad campaigns including:

HELLO SUMMER!
Summer is typically a time of unwinding and enjoying oneself. The word “summer” originates from the Old English word “summer”, which meant “together” in the original language. The origin of the name may refer to the aggregation of individuals during the warmer months.
With that said, let’s converge on Friday, July 18th, 2025, at the North Pekin AMVETS, for the Riders’ Famous Tenderloin Dinner, being served from 5 – 7P. The AC will be cranked down low, the refreshments, cold and always a festive time. Don’t forget, the Auxiliary’s delicious dessert table, in the corner. Spring has sprung. Those ancient tales of lore say that you are safe from frost when planting your garden after Mother’s Day. Then we have to prioritize yard work, cleaning the garage or planting the garden. Well, you don’t have to prioritize dinner on Friday, May 16th, because the Riders will be serving up those World-Famous Tenderloin Dinners from 5-7P. As always, the food will be warm, the beverages cold and the Post will be the friendliest place around. Carry-out orders may be called in ahead on 309-382-9129. St Patty’s Day will be behind us and confident a lot of the green refreshment will be consumed. No need to cook the following week-end and no, we will not be promising you that “Pot o’ Gold”, that will be found at the Post, but we will promise one of the best Tenderloin Dinners this side of Blarney, Cork. The Riders will be serving up those World-Famous Tenderloin Dinners on Friday, March 21st, between 5 – 7P. The refreshments will be cold and no better camaraderie than at the Post. Too weak, recovering from the green spirits, call ahead for carry-outs on 309-382-9129 and we will have your order waiting. Be sure to check out the Auxiliary’s dessert table in the corner, for some of those delicious sweets. Too full? Take some home for later. Hope to see you! Thanksgiving will only be two weeks away. Time to start planning for the family get together. You can just feel the stress, thinking about the big weekend. Let the Riders give you a breather and do the cooking on Friday, Nov. 15th, 2024. Those famous homemade TENDERLOIN DINNERS will be served from 5-7P at the AMVETS’ Post. We promise that the atmosphere will be warm and friendly, the refreshments cold and those TENDERLOIN DINNERS will be served up warm and fresh. Carry out orders can be called in ahead on: 309-382-9129. The auxiliary will have their dessert table set up in the corner and sure to satisfy that sweet tooth.
