2026 Citizen of the Year
NOCC is very happy to announce that the 2026 North Olmsted Citizen of the Year is Jackie Simcic-Becker!
Jackie has lived in North Olmsted since 1975, graduated from NOHS in 1989, moved back to the community in 1992 after college, and has lived here since. During that time, she has made several contributions to the community in a leadership role that has bettered the lives of people in the North Olmsted community.
Jackie graduated from NOHS in 1989 where she starred for the girls soccer team from 1985-1988 where the girls program oversaw unprecedented success. After graduation, she attended Mount Union where she continued her athletic career for the purple raiders. At the end of her four years she moved back to North Olmsted where she began volunteering for the North Olmsted Soccer Organization (NOSO).
She has served as NOSO president from 1993-1997 and 2019-present. The program currently serves over 500 youth participates.
She was a founding member of Girl Scouts group 71032. She hosts the annual "world friendship fair" out of North Olmsted Middle School where troops all across Cleveland come together to celebrate different cultures and ethnicities.
Jackie is the camp director for the JETT Foundations annual summer camp. The Jett Foundation empowers people and families impacted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy through the development of transformative programming, educational opportunities, and ongoing support for every stage of a Duchenne journey. Camp Promise provides a barrier-free, overnight camp for kids, teens, and adults with muscular dystrophy or select neuromuscular diseases.
She and her family are members of the St. Clarence parish where all four of her children were alter servers. She has also served as a PSR and Sunday School instructor for over 10 years.
