As one chapter ends, another begins. I am so incredibly thrilled to share with you all that I have been selected as the assistant principal of Myrtle Beach Primary for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. Throughout my eight years in the classroom, I have worked tirelessly to broaden my reach and positively impact the lives of as many children as I possibly could. What a pleasure it is going to be to continue assisting not just children and their families, but also teachers, in best serving the amazing kids we are able to work with across Horry County. I won’t ever lose my inner-teacher and it’s still a students-first mentality forever. While I am excited and ready to step up into this larger role, I can’t help but feel sadness with the thought of leaving the school I’ve called home for eight years in Ocean Drive, including all of the faculty, students, and families I’ve been able to connect with over the years. Nevertheless, you all know where to find me, and I am certain our paths will continue to cross as time goes on. Thank you all for riding out this journey with me!

Year eight is officially down and out. I was blessed with the opportunity to form loving, lasting relationships with about 45 kids, as well as many of their families. Last days are among the best of them all as not only do the kids finally reach their well-deserved break, but teachers get to reap the rewards of the hard work they’ve put in for 180 days. They get to physically see and understand the impact they’ve had on their kids as the students are all upset about leaving their teachers, but also brave and ready to take on the next grade and continue growing up. The kids don’t like to leave but that’s life - they’re on to greater things and I’m glad I was able to play my part.

Today was also the day that the dream team of myself and Ms. Rogers officially came to an end as she moves into second grade. Thank you for being the best teaching partner I could ever ask for and pushing me, whether you realized it or not, to better myself as a teacher everyday. I wanna be more like you as a teacher, you are awesome. I’ll always try to make everyday a learning opportunity (or however it goes).
