Earlier today, Mayor Baldwin and members of City Council took part in a Grounbreaking Ceremony for The CURRENT Building, located near Hwy 31 and Robert Edge Parkway.

The CURRENT Building represents an important addition to our local economy. This premier Class A office development will bring 60,000 square feet of premium office and medical office space to North Myrtle Beach.

We look forward to seeing this vision become a reality and to the positive impact it will have on our community for years to come.

Thank you to the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development team and Destination North Myrtle Beach for their partnership and dedication. Their efforts to attract investment, support business growth, and champion opportunities for our community play an important role in shaping the future of North Myrtle Beach.

Congratulations to Dr. Novis and everyone involved in bringing this project forward!

The Naming of Windy Hill ☀💨

Windy Hill has 22 recorded historic sites, including 21 residences and one commercial structure. The Windy Hill section of North Myrtle Beach is known to have one of the area’s earliest residents of record. William Gause received a land grant from the British crown in 1737.

Gause’s 250 acres included a swash near modern-day 48th Avenue South, which is now known as White Pointe Swash. This area was originally called Gause Swash.

William Gause built an inn that served travelers along Kings Highway, reportedly known for its good food and hospitality.

Local history claims that President George Washington stopped at this beach on a hill to rest during his travels here in 1791.

The name “Windy Hill” was created when a strong gust of wind led Washington to comment, “My! What a windy hill!”

Happy World Oceans Day 🌊

Oceans are Earth’s lifeline, producing over 50% of Earth’s oxygen and storing 50 times more carbon than our atmosphere. The ocean and its coastlines represent ~61% of the world’s GDP.

Beaches cover a third of the world’s coastline, connecting us to the ocean. Beach communities rely on ocean health every day to keep their economies thriving.

Protecting our beaches is essential to conserving our ocean ecosystems. Keeping our beaches litter-free, limiting the stormwater runoff entering waterways, and utilizing nature for storm protection are just three of many direct impacts we can have on our oceans when we protect our shores!

North Myrtle Beach was in the national spotlight Friday morning as Fox & Friends brought its “For All America” road trip to LuLu's North Myrtle Beach to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday.

Community members gathered bright and early for the live broadcast, showcasing the hospitality, energy, and coastal charm that make North Myrtle Beach such a special place.

During the celebration, Mayor Baldwin along with members of City Council proclaimed the day as Lucy Buffett Day in North Myrtle Beach and presented Lucy Buffett with a Key to the City in recognition of her contributions to our community and the welcoming spirit that LuLu’s brings to residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to LuLu’s North Myrtle Beach, Fox & Friends, Destination North Myrtle Beach, Coastal Carolina University, and everyone who joined us for a memorable morning that highlighted our City on a national stage!
