Join us for an evening as we make a Tribute to Women in Jazz
An evening of jazz, wine, cheese and art to celebrate the resilience, strength, and courage of women and girls for the 2023 Women’s History Month in North Miami…

NORTH MIAMI, FL — After the resounding success of AfriKin Art: The Gaze Africana that opened MLK Weekend through Black History Month 2023. AfriKin Art and the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA) are once again collaborating to present their next installation, Women Walk on Water – a contemporary fine art exhibition and call for the end of injustice and violence against women and girls for Women’s History Month 2023. Opens Sunday, March 5th, 2023 through March 31st, 2023.

On Friday, March 24th, from 5 pm to 8 pm we will be hosting a special Friday after-work network evening as a tribute to women in jazz. Women have been integral to the development of jazz music since its inception. The concert will feature Melissa “Moonchild” Stokes and friends. The theme will celebrate the strength, elegance, innovation, and devotion women have embodied in the evolution of jazz music. They will pay homage to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone, and even contemporary artists like Esperanza Spalding. The music will blend classic jazz and modern sounds, a fitting tribute to the women who have left their mark on the genre.

Admission is FREE. Bring a friend and join us
