Last week Wednesday, I had the opportunity to attend my first (but not last)Sole Step Line Dance class taught at the North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132nd Street, North Miami, FL 33161.

The class not only fosters fun community interaction but also enhances physical fitness.

Sole step classes take place every Wednesday at 6 p.m. through the end of 2026.

On Thursday, February 5, 2026, the City of North Miami proudly celebrated 100 years!

Reaching a centennial year is not only a time to reflect on our shared history, but it is also a reminder of the responsibility and honor of leading a city with such a rich legacy.

Leading during a milestone year provides an opportunity to both celebrate our accomplishments and reaffirm our commitment to the future.

As we begin our next chapter, we remain focused on all who live, work, and visit the beautiful City of North Miami.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather and joined us in celebrating this incredible moment in our city’s history.

We were honored by the presence of former North Miami Councilman Arthur “Duke” Sorey, Sr., Miami Gardens Councilwoman Linda Julien, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who together with District 2 Commissioner Marleine Bastien, and District 4 Commissioner Micky Steinberg presented the City with a proclamation, “The City of North Miami’s 100th Birthday Celebration Day”.

Last Wednesday, I hosted the monthly Storytime with the City Manager. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this month’s selection was Martin’s Big Words, a meaningful story that highlighted the power of words, courage, and compassion. I hope to connect with more of our youngest residents at next month’s book reading.

Yesterday, I hosted the monthly “Storytime with the City Manager”. This month’s selection was Pete the Cat: 12 Groovy Days of Christmas, a festive story that encouraged literacy while celebrating the holiday season. Continuing engagements like this allow me to meet with our youngest residents and continue to promote the importance of reading and education in our community.

Last week, I hosted a special Storytime in honor of Veterans Day. I read “Heroes in Our Neighborhood,” which emphasized the appreciation for Veterans who are all around us, alongside my friend and North Miami City Attorney, Jeff Cazeau, who is also a proud veteran. The kids were happy to meet Mr. Cazeau and gave him a very special thank you.
