Join the North Mankato Taylor Library for their first ever duck hunt!

Beginning today, there will be 100 fall themed rubber ducks hidden all over North Mankato.

• Find a duck, return it to the library and receive a small prize.
• Return one of our special ducks and your name will be entered into a drawing for a bigger prize.
• Fall in love with your duck? Just return the duck's tag to the library and keep your duck as your prize!

The event begins September 15 and ends September 30, 2026. All ducks must be returned to the North Mankato Taylor Library by October 1st to receive a prize.

Save the date!

2026 Fall Clean-up Drop-Off Event will be October 1-4, 2026

Location: Public Works Yard (600 Webster Ave.)

Hours:
Thursday 1st - Saturday 3rd | 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 4th | 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This drop-off event is similar to the one in Spring of 2026. The service is available to North Mankato residents who pay for refuse collection through West Central Sanitation. Materials brought in from outside North Mankato may result in loss of this service to the affected residents.

A waiting line will be setup along the North side of Webster Avenue, please approach the waiting line form Lake Street. Signage will be posted during the event. A gate attendant will monitor the number of entrants into the site, please be prepared to show proof of North Mankato residency. The gate attendant and posted signage will direct citizens where to dump respective items. Residents are asked to unload their own items and exit to allow for the next citizen to enter.

Cooking Oil & Grease

Non-electric/gas refrigerators

Items too large to fit in the back of a truck

Symphony on the Prairie is tomorrow evening

Enjoy a free outdoor concert featuring the Mankato Symphony Orchestra at Benson Park!

📅 Saturday, September 12
🎶 Music from 6–7:30 p.m.
🍕 Food available for purchase
🍦 Free ice cream while supplies last

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. This is a free event open to everyone. The concert is on the Timm Road side of Benson Park by the picnic shelter.

Pizza Ranch and Panta ta Ethne Puerto Rican Cuisine food truck will be onsite!

The event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council. Thank you also to the local business sponsors (Lindsay Windows, SouthPoint Financial Credit Union, BLK Electric Inc).

Today members of the North Mankato Fire Department and North Mankato Police Department participated in the 110 Stair Climb Challenge to honor and remember the victims and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

With each step, we remember those who lost their lives that day and honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

We would also like to thank Fitness for 10 in Mankato for partnering with us and allowing our members to use their stair machines for this meaningful event. We appreciate their support of our departments and our commitment to never forget.

Cheers to our Community Partner Big Dog Sports Cafe for their $5000 donation to the North Mankato Fire Department Equipment Fund. What do we do with donations like this? Glad you asked.
