We Remember. September 11, 2001.

Sometimes, when remembering is hard, it is because history didn’t simply happen around us—it happened to us. It changed lives, changed families, and changed our nation forever.

Do you remember where you were when you first heard the news?

For so many Americans, the answer comes immediately. We remember the images. We remember the confusion. We remember the fear and heartbreak. September 11, 2001, is forever imprinted on our collective memory.

But we also remember what came after.

In the midst of unimaginable tragedy, a divided nation found common ground. Strangers helped strangers. Communities gathered together. American flags appeared on porches, businesses, fire stations, and street corners. For a moment, the things that separated us seemed much smaller than the things that united us.

Today, 25 years later, we remember the lives that were lost. We honor the first responders, service members, ordinary citizens, and countless others who sacrificed so much that day and in the years that followed.

May we never forget the lives behind the history.

May we never forget the strength found in unity.

And may we always remember that, even in our darkest moments, we are stronger when we stand together.

September 11, 2001 — We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Can we take a minute to sing the praises of our North Manchester Public Library?

If you haven’t been lately, you MUST go! In the light of day, it’s an oasis for avid readers, game lovers, movie buffs, budding engineers, crafters, and curious minds of every age. Add in an incredibly kind and welcoming staff, and we have something pretty special right here in our community.

But that’s only one side of the coin.

If it’s been a while since you’ve visited, dip your toes back in with their incredible programming—starting with the 5th Annual Night Market on September 17!

For one evening, the library transforms into a glowing marketplace filled with local craft vendors, glowing yard games, a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt, crafts, and FREE fun for all ages.

And this year—ARCADE GAMES!

Night Market guests will be the FIRST to experience 12 arcade games taking over the Blocher Room! The games will remain at the library throughout September and into October for additional programs, but Night Market visitors get the first play—and they’re completely FREE!

Seriously… How cool is our library?!

ROAD CLOSURE – STATE ROAD 114

After a two-week delay, the closure of State Road 114 at the railroad tracks will begin TOMORROW, September 9, and is expected to last up to six weeks.

The closure is necessary for water main replacement work underneath the railroad tracks and continuing westward.

🚗 LOCAL TRAFFIC:
Local traffic may use the Thorn Street railroad crossing as an alternate route.

🚛 SEMI-TRUCK TRAFFIC:
Semi-trucks should use North Market Street and State Road 13 when traveling east/west. Please do not use Thorn Street as a truck detour.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in the area.

We know road closures can be inconvenient, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we complete this important infrastructure work.

LOOK. LISTEN. SHARE THE ROAD.

With **Dam to Dam** happening this weekend, you’ll likely see more cyclists out and about on our roads. It’s a great reminder for all of us to slow down, pay attention, and watch for bikes!

But bike awareness shouldn’t stop when the event is over.

With the growing popularity of e-bikes, more and more people are choosing two wheels to get around—riding to and from work, running errands, getting some exercise, or simply enjoying an evening ride.

☀️ Morning commute.
🏙️ Afternoon errands.
🌅 Evening ride.
⚡ Traditional bike or e-bike.

Expect to see cyclists at all hours of the day.

Before pulling out of a driveway, turning at an intersection, or opening your car door—LOOK. Take an extra second and check for a cyclist.

Look before you drive.
Listen and stay alert.
Share the road.

Be smart. Be patient. Give cyclists room.

Let’s keep North Manchester safe for everyone—no matter how many wheels they’re traveling on.

Which looks better?
1️⃣ 🚧 CLOSED
2️⃣ 🛣️ OPEN

Better… or worse?
1… or 2?
How about now? 😂

We think #2 is looking pretty crystal clear!

THE SOUTH MARKET STREET BRIDGE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

After nearly 9 months of construction, the barricades are down, and traffic can once again travel South Market Street.

A HUGE thank you for your patience over the last nine months. We know road closures and detours aren't easy, and we appreciate everyone hanging in there while this important project was completed.

South Market Street is OPEN—drive on through!

And yes… we definitely think #2 looks better.
