***Homicide Suspect Arrested***
On June 10, 2026, Mr. Brooks contacted LRPD and stated that he wished to surrender on his outstanding warrant. Members of LRPD took Mr. Brooks into custody without incident. He was transported to the NLR Justice Center for an interview with NLRPD detectives.

Following the interview, Mr. Brooks was charged with one count of Capital Murder in connection with the shooting death of Arron Gilliam.

Mr. Brooks has been transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, where he is currently being held without bond.

***Update: Homicide Suspect Arrested***
On June 10, 2026, Mr. Brooks contacted LRPD and stated that he wished to surrender on his outstanding warrant. Members of LRPD took Mr. Brooks into custody without incident. He was transported to the NLR Justice Center for an interview with NLRPD detectives.

On June 8, 2026, a homicide occurred at 2600 John Ashley Drive (Jefferson Manor Apartments). Detectives have identified Cecil Brooks Jr. as a suspect in this case. He is currently wanted for Capital Murder

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Mr. Brooks or any information about this incident is encouraged to contact NLRPD Detective Thomas at 501-771-7168, the NLRPD Tip-Line at 501-680-8439, or your local Police Department. Those with information can remain anonymous.

On 06-8-26 at approx. 10:28am, Officers with the NLRPD responded to area of 2600 John Ashley Dr. (Jefferson Manor Apartment Complex) in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived they located a deceased adult male. Detectives are currently conducting a homicide investigation. Today, 12 recruits graduated from the Joint Police Academy after 21 weeks of intensive training. Representing the North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Jacksonville Police Departments, they took their Oaths of Office and received their badges, officially beginning their careers in law enforcement.

We are proud of their commitment to serving their communities with integrity, courage, and compassion. Thank you to the family and friends whose support helped make this achievement possible.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Officer Miller dedicated his career to serving others both in uniform and in the community. Whether on patrol or volunteering at Shop With A Cop alongside his family, he consistently made a positive impact on those around him.

Today, members of the North Little Rock Police Department were honored to join Women & Children First for the ribbon cutting ceremony for Arkansasโ€™s first-ever Family Peace Center.

The Forest of Hope Family Peace Center will soon open its doors, bringing shelter, counseling, legal support, childrenโ€™s services, pet kennels, and more together under one roof for families in need.

This center will provide a safe place filled with compassion, hope, and support for those in our community who need it most.
