Since Third Friday fell on a day we were closed, we filled the Argenta Library gallery with original work from our own incredibly talented staff. Come catch these pieces before July 10!

Next Wednesday, July 1, Women's Work kicks off at Laman Library! Join us in The Studio at 5:30 PM for the first session in our five-week series exploring the history of arts long considered "women's work."

Week one dives into the History of Cross Stitch. A library expert will share the story behind this beloved needlework tradition and guide you through a bite-sized craft while we discuss what we've learned. All supplies are provided, no registration required, and every session you attend earns you an entry in our drawing for a crafty care package at the end of the series.

Adults and teens are welcome. We hope to see you there!

Many of the films featured in the questions are available to check out right here at Laman, so you can study up before the big night.

This is a free adult program. Register at https://programs.nlrlibrary.org/event/16110370

Come spill some historical tea about the Founding Fathers as we commemorate America 250 on Thursday, July 2 at 5-6:30 PM, at Laman Library!

Tar, feathers, and the protest that changed the course of the American Revolution: the Boston Tea Party. As we sip and spill tea about the men who founded the nation, this program will offer an opportunity to discuss the often-conflicting feelings surrounding our country's history and what this landmark year means to you.

Tricorn hats and frock coats encouraged but not required! Ken Burns will, of course, be playing in the background.

Participants of all ages shaped clay boats and tested how much weight they could float, inspired by Arkansas native and U.S. Naval Engineer Raye Jean Jordan Montague.
