Lakewood Elementary School Principal Cortney Bost sought to recognize three staff members who put students first every single day: Ms. Shae Escovedo, Ms. Michelle Sheppard, and Ms. Shelley Linder.

These three ladies pull small groups daily to support and scaffold classroom instruction, pivoting on a moment's notice to meet student needs. During ATLAS testing, their dedication truly shined as their students showed incredible growth and leveled up.

History came to life at Lakewood Elementary! We are so proud to have been selected as a host for the “History Rocks: America 250’s Trail to Independence Tour.” Our students spent an incredible week diving into the stories of America and Arkansas through interactive games and challenges that made historical facts feel more like an adventure than a lesson.

The excitement reached a new level when we welcomed Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Secretary Jacob Olivia, and senior officials from the Department of Education to our campus. These leaders joined our students to see firsthand how we are preparing for America’s 250th birthday by honoring the figures and principles that shaped our country. It was an unforgettable week of learning that truly proved history rocks!
