The Cross Country team competed in the as
Army/National Guard Minuteman Races at Camp Robinson today for their first meet of the year. It was extremely hot but the Wildcats turned in some great first day performances!
Alex and Alan Paulino-Cruz both were medalists in the crowded field, finishing 4th and 6th out of 146 senior high boys and the boys Varsity team finished 4th overall with the girls Varsity turning in a top 6 team score. Varsity boys were led by Alex (12), Alan (11), Winn Slaton (10), Jesse Johnston (10), and Adrian Morales (11). The Varsity girls leaders were Lani Tozer (10) leading the pack for NLR, Isabella Shipman (11), Samantha Sanchez (12), Carly Hill (12), and Ella Parker (11).
In the Junior races, 7th grader Pepper White became the first NLR girl in over a decade to WIN a cross country race! Pepper finished first out of 110 girls in grades 7-9! We are all extremely proud of her hard work and determination to get it on such a hot day. She took the lead with a half mile to go and never looked back. The Junior girls were led by Pepper (7), Paulina Navarro (9), Lillian Sorenson (8), Sylvia Young (7), and Eva Ruth (8). Both jr boys and girls teams finished 4th overall.
The Junior boys were led by top scorers Brady Bolding (9th), Thomas Strain (9), Everett Young (9), Keegan Walker (8), and Crosby Smith (7). The jr boys had 9 finishing in the top 100 out of 162 jr boys.
The Wildcats are looking forward to their next meet in Heber Springs on Tuesday.
