This young man asked if he could ride with Chief Bodey in the parade. It was our pleasure to have him assist in today’s events. He was even selected to draw the winner of the Bicentennial rifle raffle.

There will be moderate to high traffic in our village today with the first day of our Bicentennial event. Please see the North Lewisburg Bicentennial page for the events. We are also having local garage sales so there will be a lot of slow moving traffic, or possibly stopped traffic within the roadway. Please be cautious. 
There is also several food trucks at our park, so please stop up and get yourself some delicious food or beverages from one of the several vendors.

Residents in town are reporting this. Simply disconnect the call and if you have concerns, call back at our number 937-653-3409.

We have been notified of a scam, in which the caller portrays themselves as a Champaign County deputy sheriff. The scam caller indicates that the recipient of the call is involved in some legal trouble and demands money, to avoid being taken to jail.

THE CHAMPAIGN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE DOES NOT MAKE CONTACT IN THIS MANNER AND DOES NOT SOLICIT FUNDS OR PAYMENT.

If you receive this call, please hang up immediately.

It’s that time of year again. We are thrilled it’s our nations birthday, and just like everyone else, we love to celebrate. We would like to remind the community that fireworks are only legal July 3rd, 4th, and 5th as well as the Friday Saturday and Sunday immediately before and after July 4th.

It is also illegal to set off fireworks while under the influence of alcohol. I’m sure every person would love to keep their fingers this year and all we want to do is assist with that.

We kindly ask that you don’t make us the bad guy and confiscate the fireworks. Help us help you have a safe and legal celebration.

SCAM ALERT

Today our agency was approached by a resident who was, at the time, on the phone with a subject identifying themselves as North Lewisburg Police Chief Scott Bodey. Thankfully the victim was familiar with Chief Bodey and knew that he did not have a heavy accent as the caller did. The suspect was threatening arrest if the victim did not go to a jewelry store and purchase high dollar amount gold bars. Chief Bodey did listen to the call and did overhear the threat of arrest made by the subject to the victim. The victim was also advised to not speak of the matter to other parties. More so concerning, the subject did have knowledge of the victims bank account information.

It is OK to be suspicious. If you suspect a call to be fraudulent or a scam, simply disconnect and call back to your local law enforcement agency.

Our agency will never directly request funds, either it be cash, gift cards, or gold bars.

We have not received reports about this yet, but I would like to stress to the community that this behavior is not a simple harmless prank. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.
