The City Boasts Acres of Opportunities to Play, Socialize and Escape

On behalf of the City of North Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department, thank you for your interest in our fantastic City. We offer an ample amount of great programs, for every age group, and was awarded the distinction of "100 Best Cities for Youth" by America's Promise Alliance in 2012 and 2013. The Department takes great pride in maintaining 17 passive and active parks and more than 150 acres of park area throughout the City. Along with maintaining parks, the department offers a wide variety of active programs and activities for residents, and non-residents, of all ages. We offer special events, youth and adult sports programs, spring and summer camp, kids day off camps, dive-in movies at the pool, senior excursions and everything in else in between. North Lauderdale has long been home to one of the most enviable summer camps in Broward County. Each Halloween, Hampton Pines Park is turned into a haunted forest. Each April, 11,000 plastic eggs are filled with treats and scattered across the sports complex. The City also hosts North Lauderdale Days, a free City festival with concerts, games and a fireworks spectacular, in April. Top that off with soccer, basketball, baseball and cricket leagues it’s easy to see why North Lauderdale is so great. We look forward to seeing you at one of our parks soon. If you ever have a question about an upcoming event, check out the City’s event calendar on the City's website. We are always looking for ways to better serve our residents and would like to hear your suggestions. You can contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 954-724-7061.

Although the City Commission recently tabled Item 9B concerning the water plant until November 10, we are not behind schedule, and there is no reason for residents to be alarmed. The project timeline allows for completion by 2031, as required by the federal government. Therefore, postponing this item does not put the City behind schedule. We are also making significant progress on our own project. The engineering for our deep injection well is approximately 95% complete.

The morning after the meeting, I looked further into the State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan for which we are applying. I learned that the SRF is a general state loan program that opens every three months and can be used for various municipal needs. It is not limited to water plant projects.

The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) is a separate program specifically intended to support drinking-water infrastructure projects. WE DIDN’T APPLY FOR YET!!! But I have notified city manager and staff to look into it !
